A visit to the farm
Alongside our cow-calf operation we also raise dairy heifers. We have 9 GEA auto feeders and house 800-900 head between the two farms. On our home farm we have day old calves to just weaned (60-80 days Old) calves and can have up to 400 on milk. At our transition farm we house 400 weaned calves from ages 80 days old up to 150 days old. The heifers are returned to the dairy farmer. Our goals are to get calves off to a great start. My husband and I run a cash crop operation, growing corn, soybeans, sugar beets and hay. Sorry to keep it all short and sweet, way too much to explain in detail.
